Building Stage Magic

This is my second action project for my STEAM class Stage Chem. This project is a follow up to the previous AP, where we chose a space we had access to and turned it into a blueprint for a theater. For this project we turned the blueprint into a scale model, that demonstrates two elements of our choice. The elements I chose were the doors that serve at the curtains and the stage lights. I enjoyed doing this project because it was challenging, but it was still fun. I struggled when measuring out the cardboard because the length of the walls all ended in fractions of inches.

The first element that I chose to represent was the doors doors that retract into the walls that function as the show's curtains. On of the main reasons I chose this space for my theater is because these doors are already there. They take up 1/3 of the 22 1/2 ft stage. The doors are 8ft tall compared to the 10ft ceiling.

The equation so show how much work would need to be  applied would be:
 1.143 (distance in meters) * F (force)(weight in newtons) = W (work)

Safety

-Use the handle on the side of the doors when closing, and do not grip the inside of doors.
-Ensure that no one is in between the doors before closing.
-Do not place fire or heated objects near or against the doors; they are flammable.
-Do not pull an individual door out farther than the wall, they are not secured and will not retract into the walls
-Do not move doors at a fast pace.
-Communicate with the individual(s) moving the other door when operating.

The second element that I chose to represent was lighting. I have four lights, one at each corner of the stage. The GIF above shows each light individually. To show the effect of these lights, I used a figurine of I already had of Harry. Out of sheer luck the figurine happened to be perfectly to scale, which was 3 inches tall to represent what a 6ft tall person would look like on the stage.

Safety

-Keep all cords and wires for lights taped down.
-Do not bring any food or drink near lights.
-Unplug all lights when the show is not on.
-Do not handle lighting unless authorized
-Do not stand in front of the lights at any time.
-Check all wires, plugs and bulbs before and after every show.
